I grew up with a sense that something was missing from life. Most of my childhood was pretty miserable, but beyond that misery I had a feeling I needed something more that I just couldn’t name.
This “thing” I later understood as spirit. And when the spirit started to “take me” in my teenage years it felt equal parts scary and profound. Being taken by spirit became my purpose in life. This quest to be taken took me to my first real teacher in Baba Muktananda and Kashmir Shaivism. From him I learned to call the spirit “kundalini” and started to relate to her as a goddess. After a period of time, I stopped working with Muktanda’s organization. I met my second primary teacher Almiro Aquilino Dos Santos. Almiro is a mestre (master) of the martial art of capoeira, and comes from a spiritual tradition called candomblé. Although he never discussed anything spiritual in his classes, it became clear to me that the gods of his tradition (called Orixá) were manifesting in his work. The power of these gods is called axé (ah-shay), and I saw many similarities between axé and kundalini. After many years Mestre Almiro opened the door for me to work with his candomblé people in Brazil. My third primary teacher is a master healer, musician, composer and ceremonial leader. From him I learned about mediumship and how to hold a ritual container among many other things. I took what I learned from these teachers (as well as many others) and synthesized it into a system I call Kundalini Mediumship. This system is an ever evolving manifestation of an ongoing dialogue with spirit involving not just me but many others who feel this need deep in their bones. To learn more about Justin and his work:

She draws on her yogic & meditative practices, embodied understanding of psychological personality patterns, and non-dual wisdom.
