Matsés Nunu is a unique green snuff and the ashes o f the macambo tree. The macambro tree is in the same family as the cacao tree, procuing fruit and beans that are dried for eating. As with the cacao, the macambo brings a heart opening quality to the snuff. It's sometimes called gentle, but offers a different effect. The Matsés used Nunu in ceremonies and to prepare men for hunting, as it has the power to increase visions and sharpen the sensory abilities. This sacred, masculine hunter tool provides a pleasant but powerful experience with moments of calm and deep meditation followed by clarity and focus.Through the sharpening of all senses, users can experience subtle fragrances of the deep jungle and literally sense the forest and its spirits.

About Rapé
Rapé (also hapé) is a finely ground blend of medicinal plants and ash. It’s most widely used in Brazil, though the Matses in Peru also have a green version with uncured mapacho. It is believed to go back to the time of the Incas. It can help focus the mind, release emotional, physical, energetic and spiritual illnesses, align the chakras, connect to higher consciousness and ground the body.

While traveling to the jungle to ensure cultivation, preparation, sale and shipment processes is not possible, we ask as many questions as we can to ensure all are in alignment with our values. We work with women suppliers and preparers when possible to support their livelihoods. We also buy from suppliers that have a well known reputation for highest quality products. Wankawi is driven by sustainability, in all senses. If any of these medicines become endangered, or we hear of unethical or ecologically destructive practices, we will discontinue offering these medicines. The foremost important aspect of working with these medicines is to listen - to the plants themselves, the Wisdom of the Earth and the communities and traditions from which they originate. Only when we take care of the entire system, can we truly heal, thrive and create a new world.
