Plant Medicine Integration + Why Support is Important

꧁ 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 + 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 ꧂

𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡: occurs when combining separate pieces into a whole. 

With plant medicines, we gain rapid access to altered states of consciousness. When coming back to “reality,” we fall back into our normal waking consciousness. We are then integrating our experiences - the totality of what we experienced  - on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level - back into our normal waking state consciousness.

The pathway was cut out before us, and now we have access to bring the information and energy coded in the experience back. Without honoring an integration process, we can lose that information, as it can slip back into the unconscious. It can reappear at a later time, when it’s needed. And learning to integrate altered states can help us regain the pieces of ourselves so that we may live from wholeness now.

The process of sharing during the integration time is a foundational part of the plant work. The plants themselves live in a vibrant ecosystem - where every living thing impacts other living things. The plants are often teaching us about and helping us heal our relationships - to family, friends, community, and the Earth. By sharing our process in integration, we have the opportunity to fine-tune what we learned in the ceremony or the experience. We receive reflection, so that we can see ourselves more clearly.  We also are blessed to be connected with other humans who are also on similar human journeys, with similar human struggles and joys. Right after working with plant medicines, is a potent time - it can be sensitive and tender, or confusing, or energizing and joyous. Sharing and deepening into what's arising with support is invaluable.

Messages and teachings that come in in altered states are incredibly enlightening - and they can often be interpreted differently after the ceremony. The challenge can arise when  the ego identifies completely with the experience.

"The Medicine told me....to move to this country, to get married, to quit my job, that I am God/evil/will save the world, that the shaman is God/evil/will save the world, that the world is going to end, etc..."

But the ego latches onto a teaching that was spiritual - beyond the ego. Most of these revealings require a deeper exploration once out of the medicines strong influence. This deeper exploration is the true work, the development of your own true wisdom - integrating the spiritual into the human form. Unpacking these experiences with someone you trust to hold you to really discover your own truth, brings the incredible gifts of working with plant medicines through the body-mind and into your life.
